Even if you like a specific perfume to the moon and back, it is still advisable to alternate so you can continue to enjoy your favourite. But why? Your brain perceives a new smell as a stimulus that indicates danger. Thus, these stimuli ensure that you remain aware of the smell. After a few days without disaster, there appears to be no danger, and the stimulus diminishes, and so does the degree to which you perceive the smell.
