How sustainable perfumes contribute to a better future

In case you didn't know, we love perfumes! They have a unique aroma that makes you feel good, makes you more interesting to others and makes you smell good. To make a perfume smell this good, several ingredients are needed. (Almost) all of these ingredients come from nature. Think of flower petals, herbs, spices and woods... Without nature, there would be no perfumes, at least no good ones. Thanks to our current lifestyle, much of this nature is at risk of being lost. Environmental pollution leads to global warming, which ultimately damages nature. Many plant and animal species are in danger of disappearing if we continue like this. Fortunately, we can put a stop to this so we can continue to wear perfume safely! How? By living and consuming sustainably!

Consumption Society

More and more often, we are reminded that sustainability is important. But what is sustainability anyway? And why is it so important? We live in a time where we are constantly being pushed to buy all kinds of things. We forget questions like: Do I really need this product? Is the product produced fairly? What ingredients does this product have? This consumer society contributes to environmental pollution, waste, health problems and many more negative consequences in the short and long term.

Sustainable Perfume Industry

Let's zoom in on sustainability in the perfume industry because no industry is faultless. Sustainability for perfumes means that the fragrances are made in non-harmful ways. More and more perfume houses are conscious about doing business sustainably. This has many positive consequences for nature and mankind.

Packaging

Sustainable perfumes have as little packaging as possible that contains plastic. Packaging is thrown away, and this can lead to littering. This waste ends up in landfills or the sea. Think of the big plastic island that hovers around in the Pacific. Using ecologically degradable or recycled packaging limits the damage caused to our lands and oceans.

Ingredients

When it comes to ingredients, perfume houses can also make sustainable choices. They can choose not to use harmful substances in the product. Unsustainable perfume houses often do this. The substances are not only harmful to our health, but also to the environment. They end up in the air we breathe, our drinking water and our food.
In addition, the production of some perfume ingredients is very harmful to the environment. For example, a lot of water is wasted growing roses and forests are cut down for certain types of wood. So if a perfume house wants to create sustainable perfumes, they only choose sustainable ingredients.

Parfumado & Sustainability

We are constantly working on making conscious choices and coming up with innovative ideas. First of all, it is wise to try a perfume in our 8ml before buying a big bottle. If the fragrance is disappointing, then no large perfume bottle is wasted. We also try to package our perfumes as sustainably as possible. For example, our travel cases are reusable and last a very long time. Our refills are packaged in reusable paper tubes. We also offer different perfumes from sustainable perfume houses.
